Marcia’s Vacation to Normandy

In June, I had the opportunity to take a busman's holiday to travel with The Cultural Landscape Foundation to study gardens in the Normandy region of France. This area is similar to Atlanta in topography and lush countryside but with cooler daytime temperatures. It’s a garden lover’s delight!

As I toured these gardens with their owners, I relearned the lessons of good gardening, proper pruning, the importance of structure in a garden, well-considered spatial relationships, and, above all, attention to detail.

The Jardins d'Entretat had it all in the most unique garden I have ever seen. It is a neo-futuristic garden of sheared plants that mimic the natural terrain and waves of the Channel. A collection of contemporary art emerging from the lush greenery is the final touch in the enchanting journey through this remarkable landscape.

I had the most wonderful time and can't wait to use what I learned to continue adding beauty to your outdoor spaces with Gardens to Love.
